Why Is It Called The Intoxication?

It’s a question I get a lot. Part of it is a joke. Part of it is serious. After all, the blog is titled, The Intoxication of Vera Roberts. Let me explain…

Back in 2006, I was trying to think of a creative title for my blog when I was posting a lot on myspace. Nothing really seemed to fit the way I wanted and I was getting a tad bit frustrated. During this time, I was working on a short story and had the working title of ‘Bitten’ (the story later became The Family).

So anyway, my roommate suggested I needed something sexy, something provocative…something intriguing that everyone would always remember. She suggested I named the story Tuesday’s Intoxication. The title didn’t pan out but I loved the term intoxication. So of course, I had to look it up:

1. inebriation; drunkenness.

2. an act or instance of intoxicating.

3. overpowering exhilaration or excitement of the mind or emotions.

4. Pathology . poisoning.

Now let’s see…although I love my liquor, I’m not drunk all the time so let’s cross off #1. #2 seems a bit vague so I’m going to pass on that one. I’m not trying to poison you so let’s cross off #4.

The Intoxication is suppose to take over your mind, your body, your senses, your soul.  I want you see a sexy picture and experience emotions other than horny. See the curvature of her body, feel the warmth emitting from the screen. And when you read the fiction, I want you to feel what the characters are thinking, experiencing, loving, wanting, aching.

I’m a writer by day and lover by night. I’ve made quite a few friends and some enemies along the way. But hell, even Wonder Woman had her haters…

And there you have it,

I do not even know how I ended up here, but I thought this post was great. I don’t know who you are but certainly you are going to a famous blogger if you aren’t already 😉 Cheers!

    Hi Vera,

How are you doing today? Well I hope. 🙂 My name is Felicia and I am the press outreach coordinator at LaFamos, a PR firm for unsigned artists.

We have an artist that we work with that I think would be a great fit for Queeried. His name is Thomas King and he crafts high-energy pop. His latest single “One Nite Stand” is about looking for a bisexual out on the prowl for a one night stand.

I would be thrilled if you took the time to listen to his music and possibly consider featuring him. I invite you to visit his DPK at music.lafamos.com/thomasking and use this password TH4M2SK7N6G to download his EP High on Life.

I hope you enjoy it. If you’re interested or would like more information, contact me at your earliest convenience. Thanks a lot. I can’t wait to hear back from you.

I'm in your thoughts so tell me how you really feel...
