A question I’m asked often is who do I visualize when I write certain characters. Well, the answer sometimes isn’t a cut and dry one. For example, Scott Reed is a combination of a lot of people rolled into one. The same goes for my heroines. I don’t see just one person when I write them, I see several people I know and stick a name on her.
The women in Where I Wanna Be, the third and upcoming book in the D’Amato Brothers series, are different. I had some writer’s block and I think it was because I couldn’t visualize the characters. Eli was easy to visualize; ladies, take your pick:
Here is the second choice:
Of course, I can’t leave the men out. Here is who I visualize for Eli’s wife, Faith:

Very leggy. Some of you guys I know are already visualizing how her legs would look wrapped around your back.
So if Eli’s wife is looking like that, I wonder what his girlfriend would look like? Well, I visualized someone blonde, has a slight country accent, and maybe a little thick around the waist.

But what if I decided Simone shouldn’t have a country accent…maybe she’s Caribbean?
Of course, with the obvious color difference, there will be the light-skinned v. dark-skinned issue brought up in the story.
So let’s make this fun and have the readers decide…

So, so, love the Bouncy reference! I saw Faith with the same sense of ridonkulousness, but shorter, like the late Michelle Thomas (from Family Matters- Urkel’s girlfriend Myra). For some reason Faith hits me in the other books as more like Bernadette from Big Bang Theory- a little piece of leather, but well put together. The imagination is so flexible, Ms. V- she can look like so many people without you changing a thing!
OK on Eli…I say ok. Well done. *fans self*
